Where did it happen?

The honest version

Nobody plans to be the person making a claim

People across England and Wales, including near you, use our free check to work out where they stand after an accident that wasn't their fault.

An accident at work, a crash while driving for work, or a fall in a public place that wasn't your fault can leave you dealing with pain, time off, and bills, while you're still not sure whether you actually have grounds to claim. Most people we hear from aren't looking for a windfall. They just want to know, in plain English, whether what happened to them counts.

The clock is also running. Personal injury claims usually have to be started within three years of the accident, or from the date you realised your injury was linked to it, with different rules if you're claiming for a child or for an adult who can't manage their own affairs. It's easy to let that window close while you're weighing up whether it's worth the hassle, or who to trust among the many claims companies out there.

That's the whole reason this page exists. A free check costs you nothing, commits you to nothing, and tells you whether it looks like there is something worth taking further.

What you can check

If you were hurt near you, here's where most checks start

Accidents at work

Faulty equipment, unsafe lifting, a missing guard, a spill nobody cleaned up, or training you were never given. If your employer's failure played a part in you being hurt, that's worth checking. You do not need your manager's permission to look into it.

Driving for work

Vans, HGVs, company cars, deliveries and site-to-site journeys. Being on the clock when someone else caused the collision doesn't stop you looking into a claim. If you were injured in a road traffic accident in England or Wales, you may be able to make a claim yourself, for free, using the Official Injury Claim service.

Public places

A broken pavement, an unlit stairwell, a shop floor left wet with no sign. Where someone responsible for a space didn't keep it reasonably safe and you were injured because of it, a check will tell you whether it looks like there's a claim.

The process

How a claim check works with us

Three steps, and you can stop at any of them.

Start my free claim check

Takes about 2 minutes · No obligation · Free to check

  1. You take the free check

Tell us where and roughly when you were hurt, and a little about the injury. It takes a couple of minutes, costs nothing, and you're not agreeing to anything by doing it.

  2. We look at what you've told us

We compare your answers against the criteria the solicitors on our panel look for. We don't advise you, value your claim or decide anything about it; that isn't our role and we're not a law firm.

  3. An introduction to one solicitor

If it looks like you could have a claim, we introduce you to a single regulated personal injury solicitor. They contact you the way you asked to be contacted and explain their own terms and fees before you agree to anything. You can take a 14-day cooling-off period, or walk away.

Costs, in plain English

What this could cost you, and what it won't

The check itself is free. claim.co.uk doesn't charge you for the check or for the introduction. We are paid by the solicitors we introduce you to, never by you.

No Win, No Fee — the maximum success fee the legal panel will charge is 50% inclusive of VAT. That fee is only ever taken from compensation you actually receive, and the solicitor will tell you the exact fee that applies to your case before you agree to anything.

You do not have to use a claims management company at all. You are free to approach a solicitor directly, or to pursue a personal injury claim yourself, at no cost.

Things to ask the solicitor about

  • A termination fee can apply if you end the agreement with the solicitor after it has started. Ask them exactly when it would apply and how it is calculated.
  • In some circumstances you may have to pay costs, for example if you do not cooperate with the solicitor or you are not truthful about what happened.
  • Ask whether After the Event insurance is included in your agreement, what it covers, and whether there is a premium to pay.
  • The solicitor tells you the exact fee before you agree to anything. If anything is unclear, ask them to put it in writing.

One solicitor, not a list

If you could have a claim, your details go to a single regulated personal injury solicitor. Not a panel of callers, and never sold to any third party.

Free, with no obligation

The check costs nothing and commits you to nothing. There's a 14-day cooling-off period once you're introduced to a solicitor.

Straight about our role

We say plainly that we are a claims management company and not a law firm, and that you can always go to a solicitor yourself instead.

Fair questions

The things people say to us before they start

“Isn't this just a claims company taking a cut for nothing?”

We don't charge you anything for the check or for the introduction. claim.co.uk is paid by the solicitor we introduce you to, not by you, and you can pursue a claim yourself, for free, at any time. If you do go ahead with a solicitor, the maximum success fee the legal panel will charge on a No Win, No Fee claim is 50% inclusive of VAT, and it is only ever taken from compensation you actually receive.

“How do I know you're legitimate?”

claim.co.uk is a trading name of Fairweather Group Ltd, a claims management company authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under FRN 935899, as set out in its published terms and conditions. We're not a law firm and we don't give legal advice. We check whether you might have grounds to claim and, if so, introduce you to one regulated solicitor who explains their own terms before you agree to anything.

“Do I have to hand over medical details to a stranger?”

You only share what you're comfortable sharing, and only answer injury questions if the injury is yours, your child's, or someone you have authority to act for. Your details are never sold to any third party. Where your check suggests a claim, your information goes to one regulated solicitor for the sole purpose of discussing that potential claim.

“Can't I just go to a solicitor myself?”

Yes, and you're never obliged to use a claims management company. Some people would rather have a quick, plain-English check first to see whether it's worth their time. That's all we offer: free, with no obligation to go any further.

Staying ahead of regulatory change

The Financial Conduct Authority launched a review of the claims management market in May 2026, looking at aggressive marketing, misleading advertising and unfair exit fees across the sector. We'd rather be boring and clear than clever: we tell you what we are, what we're paid for, and what you're free to do instead.
